Cold brew has become a modern classic for good reason: by replacing heat with time, cold water gently extracts the chocolatey, caramelized sugars while leaving behind bitter tannins and harsh acidic compounds.
The Step-by-Step Cold Brew Guide
- Coarse Grind: Grind your beans to a coarse sea-salt consistency. A fine grind will turn your brew cloudy and overly bitter.
- Steep: Combine 1 part coffee with 5 parts cold filtered water in a glass jar or French press. Stir gently until all grounds are submerged.
- Rest: Seal and steep in the refrigerator or at cool room temperature for 16 to 18 hours.
- Filter: Strain through a metal sieve lined with a paper coffee filter or cheesecloth.
- Serve: Pour over ice cubes, cut with cold milk or tonic water, or enjoy straight. For effortless enjoyment, grab ready-to-pour Nuvii Cold Brew in our 250ml bottles!
